Free showing of suicide documentary at Milford Cinema on March 21
“The S Word,” a documentary chronicling the journey of suicide survivors, will be showing at the Milford Independent Cinema at 6:30 p.m. on March 21. This powerful film puts a human face to a topic that has long been stigmatized. It affects people of all ages, races, faiths, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Admission is free. This event is sponsored by Huron Valley Youth Assistance, Huron Valley Optimists Club, and the Huron Valley Community Coalition. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Due to theater capacity, seats are limited to 100 guests.
Canton State of the Township address set for March 22
The Canton Chamber of Commerce will host the State of the Township address at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22. Canton Township Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak will give an update on what’s happening in the community. The event will be held at the Village Theater at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. Redford Chamber Scholarship Fund application deadline is March 31
The Redford Township Chamber of Commerce offers college scholarship opportunities to graduating high school seniors. In order to apply, an applicant must be a Redford resident planning to attend a college, trade, or academy school in the fall semester immediately following their graduation. City of Wixom Egg Hunt set for April 2
Children ages 2-10 are invited to enjoy the City of Wixom’s Egg Hunt & Bunny Fun at Gilbert Willis Park on Sunday, April 2, from 1-3 p.m. (registration starts at 12:30 p.m.) The cost is $5 per child and includes the Easter egg hunt, jelly bean guess, a take-home craft, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Wolverine Lake offering boater safety class on April 15
The Village of Wolverine Lake is offering a boater safety class on Saturday, April 15 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Village Hall Council Chambers, 425 Glengary in Wolverine Lake.
You must register through Michigan Department of Natural Resources at michigan.storefront.kalkomey.com. If you were born after 1978 you must have a Boater Safety Certificate to operate a Personal Water Craft. The class is limited to 30 students.
